Biographical Notes:
My name is Andrew Pavey and I have worked with people in conflict for many years, both as a mediator and as a lawyer. I received my BA in English and Philosophy from UBC and my LLB from Dalhousie University in Halifax. After being called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1980, I had a general litigation practice in Halifax with an emphasis on family and administrative law. Along the way I discovered the value of mediating disputes and I started a mediation practice alongside my law practice. I hold a Certificate in Child Protection Mediation from the Justice Institute of BC and completed the Mediation Internship Program of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court (Family Division). After returning to Vancouver, I obtained the Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA) designation and more recently the Certified Elder Mediator and Certified Comprehensive Family Mediator designations from Family Mediation Canada. Throughout my career I have been involved in the volunteer and community sectors; I currently sit on the Board of Family Mediation Canada.
