Biographical Notes:

Douglas F. Cutbush is an Insurance Consultant, Arbitrator, Mediator and Insurance Appraisal Umpire who has spent over fifty years in the insurance industry. Until recently, he worked for The Gerling Global Insurance Group of Canada as Senior Vice President and Claims Manager for Canada. In 1993, he established Douglas F. Cutbush & Associates Limited to provide insurance-related consulting, arbitration and mediation services. Mr. Cutbush frequently speaks at seminars and conferences dealing with such subjects as claims management, business interruption claims, excess liability claims, builders’ risk policies, coverage disputes, reinsurance claims, insurance arbitrations and Appraisals under the Insurance Act. Douglas F. Cutbush has also been appointed a Roster Mediator for the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program.

Mr. Cutbush is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Canada, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of the United Kingdom and a Chartered Arbitrator of the Arbitration and Mediation institute of Canada. He is a current member and previous Director of the Canadian Insurance Claims Managers Association. He is also a Director of the Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity Company. He is a past Director of the Arbitration and Mediation institute of Ontario and was a member of the Insurance Bureau of Canada Claims Committee for ten years.
