Biographical Notes:

Experienced in a wide variety of dispute resolution and conflict management processes. Engaged as an arbitrator (chair of panels and sole arbitrator), expedited arbitrator, mediator, facilitator, troubleshooter, investigator, fact-finder, ombudsman and advisor on conflict resolution.

  • Appointed as an Arbitrator, in both the private and public sector, in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, under both provincial and federal jurisdictions. Named as an arbitrator and an expedited arbitrator in numerous collective agreements in British Columbia.
  • Mediator of numerous labour relations, workplace, wrongful dismissal, harassment, commercial, and personal injury disputes.
  • Organizational Ombudsperson, functioning as an independent, impartial source of assistance to resolve both employee and organizational problems. This is a confidential informal process that involves listening, analyzing, investigating, counselling, mediating, and making recommendations. Corporate Ombudsperson for B.C. Hydro (1996 – 2002) with respect to their professional and non-unionized employees.
  • Troubleshooter in the health care industry for conflicts involving health care workers, nurses, and paramedical professionals. Functioning as a problem solver, investigating the conflict, defining the issues, mediating resolutions, and making written recommendations to resolve the problem.
  • Facilitator, conducting conflict audits which involve diagnosing, assessing, evaluating, and designing appropriate action steps, both short term and long term, in conjunction with the parties, and agreeing upon an implementation program and monitoring system.
  • Education:

    LL.B from Queen’s University. Called to the Bar in British Columbia and Ontario.
