Biographical Notes:

Helen Walt has been a full time mediator since 2002 mediating a wide range of disputes including personal injury, insurance, commercial and property. Helen holds a Masters of Law Degree in ADR from Osgoode Hall Law School. She has also completed the Intensive Mediation Certificate from Osgoode Hall Law School. Helen was also Vice -President of the organization that launched the first online dispute resolution Company in Canada, mediating insurance settlements between plaintiff counsel and insurance companies. Since 2002, Helen has been part of the panel of YorkStreet Dispute Resolution Group which brings together a group of professionals who have been recognized for their experience as specialists in specific types of disputes and who are all experienced, trained and recognized as competent mediators and arbitrators. In 2005, Helen was appointed a Roster Mediator with the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program in Toronto.

Education:

Helen L. Walt graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa) with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, 1990 and a Bachelor of Law degree in 1992. She obtained her Masters of Law degree specializing in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) at Osgoode Hall Law School in 1999. As part of her LL.M., she worked at the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations focusing on needs assessment, analysis and design of dispute resolution systems. Ms. Walt has also completed the Intensive Mediation Certificate from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University (1998).
