Biographical Notes:

Retired from The Superior Court of Justice on January 1, 2004. Since that time a partner in Ottawa Dispute Resolution Group Inc conducting mediations, arbitrations, and private trials primarily in the commercial, construction and personal injury areas.

Education:

B.A. St. Francis Xavier University 1959;LL.B University of Ottawa 1962; Called to the Ontario Bar 1964. Practiced civil and criminal litigation with the Ottawa firm of Burke-Robertson,Chadwick,& Ritchie from 1964 until 1988. Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada from 1975 to 1988. Part time professor at University of Ottawa Law School. Taught at the Bar admission course. Taught business law @ Algonquin College from 1965 to 1977. Appointed to the Supreme Court of Ontario June 6 , 1988. Regional Senior Justice for Eastern Ont. from 1994 until 2000. Resigned from the Court Jan.1 2004. Received an Honourary Doctor of Laws (LL.D) Degree from the Law Society of Upper Canada on July 14, 2004

RATES & PAYMENT INFORMATION

Rates:
Mediation/Settlement Conferences:
1/2 day - $2,200.00 (conducted in East Region)
Full day rate outside of East Region - $4,000.00
1/2 day rate outside of East Region - $2,700.00
Hourly rate - $450.00

Arbitrations/Private Trials: (within East Region) $4,000.00 per day
Hearings outside of East Region, per diem fee to be negotiated.

Pre-Hearing Conferences & written Awards: 450.00 per hour

Payment: 30 days after completion.

Cancellation Policy:

  • If cancellation is prior to 7 days before the scheduled event, then there will be no cancellation fee, only a charge for time and disbursements incurred to that date;
  • Within 7 working days we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of $1,000.00 per scheduled days.
