Biographical Notes:

Richard D. McLean, Q.C. is engaged in a litigation practice with the firm. His practice includes insurance and personal injury litigation, estate litigation, commercial litigation and general counsel work. Mr. McLean has represented clients in virtually all levels of court in Ontario including the Ontario Court of Appeal, Federal Tax Court, Administrative Tribunal and applications to the Superior Court of Canada. He has represented clients in matters outside of Ontario including a trial which he conducted in the Supreme Court of New Brunswick. Over the years, Mr. McLean has conducted numerous jury and non-jury trials involving personal injury actions, product liability cases along with other types of litigation in the trial courts and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Education:

Richard D. McLean, Q.C.has over 40 years of experience in litigation. He is the Senior partner at Thompson, Tooze, McLean & Elkin. He began his career there as an articling student in 1957. He has practised law with the firm since his call to the bar in 1959.

In addition to his practice as a senior litigator, he is an experienced mediator with YorkStreet Dispute Resolution Group Inc. and as such is called upon to mediate various litigation matters. In the past, Mr. McLean was for a number of years a group instructor in civil procedure at Osgoode Hall Law School.
