Biographical Notes:
Practiced law with the Ottawa law firm of Burke-Robertson, LLP from March, 1973 to January 30, 2004 and became a partner in 1976.
Practice is concentrated in the areas of employment law and labour relations matters and commercial litigation. Has appeared extensively before the Ontario and Canada Labour Relations Board, Arbitration Tribunals and all levels of Courts in the Province of Ontario, the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Included in the scope of practice are the areas of employment contract and wrongful dismissal actions, human rights complaints, greivance arbitrations and alternate dispute resolution of employment matters along with acting on behalf of both Plaintiffs and Defendants in commercial litigation matters.
Certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Civil Litigation in 1990 and re-certified in 1996, 2000 and 2003.
Completed the Harvard Mediation Course sponsored by the Advocates Society of Ontario in July of 1998. Has appeared as Counsel at numerous Mediations and has conducted Mediations and Arbitrations as well.

RATES & PAYMENT INFORMATION |
Rates: MEDIATION:
Full day: $2,500.00 ; Half day: $1,500.00
These fees are based upon a full day mediation/settlement conference consisting of six hours and a half-day of three hours. They would include three hours of preparation for a full day conference and one and a half hours of preparation for a half-day conference, consultation and administration, along with traveling time within Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton. If there are additional parties or complex issues, or multi-party cases, then the hourly rate charged in addition is $300.00 per hour.
Arbitrations/Private Trials: (within East Region)
$3,000.00 per day
Hearings outside of East Region, per diem fee to be negotiated.
Pre-Hearing Conferences & written Awards: $300.00 per hour
Payment: Accounts will be rendered divided equally amongst the lawyers representing the parties unless prior written directions are received.
Cancellation Policy:
If cancellation is prior to 7 days before the scheduled event, then there will be no cancellation fee, only a charge for time and disbursements incurred to that date;
Within 7 working days we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of $1,000.00 per scheduled days.
