Biographical Notes:

Shelley L Timms enjoys mediating and arbitrating all kinds of disputes, Personal injury, Insurance, Professional liability, Commercial, Property, Estate and Employment. She has conducted over 2000 mediations.

For 5 years, Shelley taught Labour Relations in the Food and Nutrition Management course at George Brown College. She is a certified trainer of "Safer Bars", a programme dealing with aggression management in a liquor licenced establishment. Shelley completed her Certificate of Adjudication of Administrative Agencies, Boards and Tribunals in 2019.

Shelley is a past President of arrive alive; Drive Sober and continues to sit on its board; a board member of ARCC (Assisted-Dying Resource Centre); a past board member of Temagami Community Foundation; and a past director of the Student Life Education Company, a not-for-profit organization directed to provide education on the use and non-use of alcohol for secondary and post secondary levels of education. She has contributed to numerous continuing legal education and insurance education seminars as both a speaker and author of papers.

Education:

Shelley L. Timms was called to the Ontario Bar in 1986 and has practised litigation, primarily in the Insurance/Personal injury area. In 2000, she began a Dispute Resolution and consulting practice focusing on Mediation, Neutral Evaluation, ADR training and Liquor Liability issues.

Ms. Timms received her initial mediation training through CDR Associates in Boulder, CO, and a Certificate of Negotiation and Mediation in Insurance through Osgoode Hall Law School. In 2004, she received her LL.M. in A.D.R. from Osgoode Hall Law School.

She is a past active member of the Ontario Bar Association and Canadian Bar Association and was a member of the governing council of both as well as Chair of the CBA Resolutions and By-Laws Committee; Coordinator of the OBA Law Day High School Mock Trial Tournament; chair of Ontario Law Day and a member of the Equal Opportunity Committee.
